Description
This Oregon sunstone from the Ponderosa Mine has medium saturation. It is primarily copper colored, but also reflects teal from some angles. Lightly included with one-eye visible fingerprint in the wing and a cloud in the body only visible with a 10x loupe.
Oregon sunstones are unique copper-bearing feldspar only found in Oregon. It has a rare quality of Dichroism and Pleochroism that can give color pockets in a variety of colors. It is also sometimes infused with visible copper particles giving a beautiful sparkling "Schiller" effect to the stones.
It has a hardness between 6.5 and 7.0 on the Mohs harness scale, similar to quartzes like Amethyst and Citrine or Tourmaline and is suitable for jewelry.
